Tips on Getting Airfare Specials

Everyone has moments when they think of airfare specials. This is especially true when another holiday is just around the corner or you have been thinking of mom and dad more than often lately. Sometimes, getting airfare discounts can be a challenge but there are things you can do to get your hands on these limited specials.

Tip #1: See Online Experts

The internet holds almost every conceivable piece of information on earth. If you are looking for airfare deals, then your best shot of bagging them is by going online. There are airfare sites that specialize in giving the lowest airfare rates. Other than these resources however, you also have individual experts who would be willing to help you out. Search for articles and blogs on fare specials. You would be surprised on just how many concrete low price deals you can get. Experts don’t have to be certified travel gurus. Average Joes who travel a lot can also provide information on specials.

Tip #2: Watch the Promos

No airline can ever survive by keeping aloof and just sticking with standard prices. There will be times in a year when every airline will try to reach out to its customers through promos that promise great fare deals. Some promos for example typically happen during anniversaries. Since different airlines have different special company dates, you may be able to bag a good deal at different times of the year. Promos for airfare specials can take on different forms such as frequent flyer discounts, best customer testimonials or raffles.

Do remember though that airline promos typically have restrictions that do not always accompany regular fares. Different airlines have different promo rules. You may for example only be able to take advantage of promo deals if you book early, if you get a round trip ticket, if you buy online or if you get them on certain days of the week. Many promos also cannot be transferred or returned.

Before you jump on fare specials, you should also take note that price figures may not always reflect the total cost that you would have to pay in the end. Extra charges may not be shown just to make promo fares seem so much cheaper. In reality, you may have to pay for additional fuel charges and taxes. Read the fine print first before running after a promo deal.

Tip #3: Have an Eye on Places Too

One kind of promo that you should especially watch out for is the location promo. Some airlines typically zero in on one particular location every year to hold fare specials on. This can be anywhere from the Caribbean to Asian islands. This can be a great starting point from which to plan your vacation trip. Instead of planning where to go and finding cheap airfare, you can instead look for places with cheap airfare and go there instead. This is a great tip for those who are always flexible when it comes to vacation plans and destinations.

Even if you can afford to pay for regular fare, you could always use great airfare specials now and then. They are a great way to save a few dollars every year.
